Introduction
Mi Fitness (known as Mi Fitness (Xiaomi Wear) on Android and Mi Fitness (Xiaomi Wear Lite) on iOS) is Xiaomi's official health and fitness companion app for its entire line of Xiaomi Watch, Redmi Watch, Xiaomi Smart Band, and Redmi Smart Band wearables. With over 50 million downloads on Google Play, a 4.3-star rating from 1.45 million Android reviews, and a 4.6-star rating on the App Store, Mi Fitness is one of the most widely used smartwatch companion apps globally — serving the vast ecosystem of Xiaomi's affordable, feature-rich wearables.
Developed by Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., Ltd, Mi Fitness replaced the legacy Mi Fit app (later rebranded to Zepp Life by Huami/Zepp Health) as the primary first-party companion for current-generation Xiaomi wearables. Starting from the Xiaomi Smart Band 9 and newer models, Mi Fitness is the required and exclusive pairing app — Zepp Life is no longer supported for these devices.
How Mi Fitness Works
After downloading the Mi Fitness app and logging in with your Xiaomi Account (or Google/Apple account), you pair your Xiaomi or Redmi wearable via Bluetooth by scanning the QR code displayed on the device screen. Once connected, the app acts as the central hub for:
Health data synchronization — continuous heart rate, SpO₂, sleep stages, stress levels, steps, and calories are synced from the device to the app and optionally backed up to Xiaomi's cloud via your Mi Account
Workout tracking — track activities from the phone using built-in GPS (walking, running, cycling) or review workout data logged by the wearable across 150+ sport modes
Third-party platform sync — connect Mi Fitness to Strava, Google Fit, Suunto, or Google Health Connect to share health and fitness data with the wider fitness ecosystem

Mi Fitness (called Mi Fitness (Xiaomi Wear) on Android and Mi Fitness (Xiaomi Wear Lite) on iOS) is Xiaomi's official companion app for its Xiaomi Watch, Redmi Watch, Xiaomi Smart Band, and Redmi Smart Band wearable devices. The app connects to your Xiaomi or Redmi wearable via Bluetooth and serves as the central hub for: pairing and setting up new devices; viewing health data including steps, heart rate, sleep stages, SpO₂, and stress levels; tracking workouts with GPS route mapping; managing device settings like watch faces, notifications, and alarms; installing firmware updates; and connecting to third-party fitness platforms like Strava, Google Fit, and Apple Health. Mi Fitness is free to download with optional in-app purchases for premium watch faces and a VIP subscription.
How do I connect Mi Fitness to Strava?
Connecting Mi Fitness to Strava is straightforward: open the Mi Fitness app and go to your Profile. On iOS, tap Connected Apps; on Android, go to Settings → Third Party Data. Find Strava in the list and tap the toggle or Connect button. You will be redirected to Strava's authorization screen — log in to your Strava account and grant permission. Once authorized, completed GPS workouts tracked by your Xiaomi wearable or the Mi Fitness app will automatically sync to Strava. Note: you must complete an outdoor GPS workout and sync it to Mi Fitness before it appears in Strava. Some users also chain Mi Fitness → Strava → Google Fit if the direct Mi Fitness to Google Fit connection is unreliable on their setup.
Mi Fitness vs Zepp Life — which app should I use for my Xiaomi band?
The answer depends on which Xiaomi device you own. For current-generation wearables (Xiaomi Smart Band 9, Smart Band 10, Redmi Watch 5, and most devices released after 2023), you must use Mi Fitness — these devices are not compatible with Zepp Life. For older devices (Mi Band 5, 6, 7, and older), Zepp Life may still be the supported app. Check the product page or FAQ for your specific device model to confirm. In terms of features, Mi Fitness is actively developed by Xiaomi as first-party software and has a higher download count (50M+) with a 4.3★ rating vs. Zepp Life's 3.8★. If you are upgrading from an older Mi Band that used Zepp Life to a newer Band 9 or 10, the transition to Mi Fitness is mandatory, not optional.
How do I sync Mi Fitness with Apple Health?
On iOS, Mi Fitness can share health data to Apple Health. Go to your iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Mi Fitness, and enable the data categories you want to share (steps, heart rate, sleep, etc.). Alternatively, open the Apple Health app, go to Sharing → Apps, find Mi Fitness, and configure the data types. Note a known limitation: Mi Fitness syncs some metrics (heart rate, calories) by the hour rather than minute-by-minute, which means recovery metrics and real-time analysis in Apple Health may be less granular compared to native Apple Watch data. Sleep data sync is also limited to total time-in-bed rather than full stage breakdown on some configurations.
How do I connect Mi Fitness to Google Health Connect?
On Android, Mi Fitness supports Google Health Connect for data sharing. First, ensure Google Health Connect is installed on your Android phone (available on Google Play). Then open Mi Fitness → Profile → Settings → Third Party Data (or Connected Apps) and look for Health Connect. Alternatively, open Health Connect → Apps → Mi Fitness and configure which data types to share. Mi Fitness can share steps, heart rate, calories, sleep, and activity data to Health Connect, which then makes this data available to other Health Connect-compatible apps. Make sure Mi Fitness has the Physical Activity permission granted on your phone for best sync results.
How do I allow Mi Fitness to run in the background?
If Mi Fitness is not syncing data reliably or your notifications are delayed, you likely need to exempt it from battery optimization. On Android: go to Settings → Battery → Battery Optimization (or App Battery Saver) → find Mi Fitness → set to 'Unrestricted' or 'No Restrictions'. On some Android phones (Samsung, Huawei, OnePlus), you may also need to go to Settings → Apps → Mi Fitness → Battery → Allow Background Activity. Additionally, ensure Mi Fitness has Notification access enabled. On iOS, go to Settings → Mi Fitness and ensure Background App Refresh is enabled. On both platforms, keeping Bluetooth always-on and maintaining a stable connection significantly improves sync reliability.
Is Mi Fitness available for PC or Windows?
No — Mi Fitness is a mobile-only application available for Android (Google Play: com.xiaomi.wearable) and iOS (App Store ID: 1493500777). There is no official Mi Fitness desktop application for Windows, Mac, or Linux. If you want to access Mi Fitness on a larger screen, you have a few workarounds: run the Android APK via an Android emulator like BlueStacks on Windows; use the Mi Fitness web login via your Xiaomi Account at account.xiaomi.com to view limited profile and data information; or mirror your Android phone screen to your PC using tools like Scrcpy or built-in Windows 11 Phone Link. However, full Mi Fitness functionality (device pairing, real-time sync, settings management) requires the mobile app.
Can Mi Fitness connect to Samsung Health?
Mi Fitness does not have a direct, native integration with Samsung Health. However, you can achieve indirect data sharing: (1) Connect Mi Fitness to Google Health Connect on Android — Samsung Health also connects to Google Health Connect, enabling data to flow between the two platforms via Health Connect as a bridge. (2) Export Mi Fitness workout data manually (if the export feature is available on your device) and import it into Samsung Health. (3) Use Strava as a bridge: connect Mi Fitness → Strava → Samsung Health if Samsung Health supports Strava import in your region. Direct Mi Fitness to Samsung Health sync is not officially supported, so experience may vary depending on your phone, Android version, and Samsung Health version.
How do I change my step goal in Mi Fitness?
To change your daily step goal in Mi Fitness: open the app → tap the Steps card on the Health or Activity tab → tap the settings/edit icon → enter your new step target → save. Alternatively, go to Profile → My Profile and look for the Goals or Activity Goals section where you can set daily step count, calorie burn targets, and active minutes goals. Step goals are reflected on both the app dashboard and your connected Xiaomi/Redmi wearable display. Some device models also allow you to update step goals directly from the watch settings menu.
Which devices are compatible with Mi Fitness?
Mi Fitness officially supports four product families: Xiaomi Watch Series (e.g., Xiaomi Watch S3, S4, Ultra), Redmi Watch Series (e.g., Redmi Watch 4, 5), Xiaomi Smart Band Series (e.g., Xiaomi Smart Band 9, 9 Pro, 10), and Redmi Smart Band Series. Current-generation devices (Band 9 onwards) require Mi Fitness and are NOT compatible with Zepp Life. Some older devices like Mi Band 3, 4, 5 may still be paired with Zepp Life (formerly Mi Fit). Mi Fitness does NOT support Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Garmin, Fitbit, or other non-Xiaomi wearables. Always check your specific device's FAQ page on mi.com to confirm which companion app is required.

I have used this Mi Fitness for a few years (Using the Mi Band 7 and 9) now and it has been great. Better than Apple fitness? Yes. Does it have issues? Yes, but forgivable ones. Things I like: Simple and easy to use and clean UI, Incredibly easy to set up and sync a new device, Easy to get used to using, Good GPS tracking, SO MANY WALLPAPERS (and good ones too if you look hard enough), Really good explanations for the different features of the app and how the band tracks you (how the sensors work). Things I don't: Good translation in some parts all the way to areas that are still completely in Chinese. Overall, still a great fitness app. I give it five stars because it exceeded my expectations. It's faults are as to be expected. It's free.
Absolutely amazing product & website, this app is amazing and everything you need all in 1. Tracks everything I need — steps, sleep, heart rate — all in one clean dashboard. Setup took less than 5 minutes and my Mi Band synced immediately. The watch face options are incredible, there's something for everyone. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a reliable, easy-to-use fitness companion.
App Store
The app works great and has a ton of options. However, when choosing the metric system, some parameters like pace are still shown in feet and inches. As soon as this is fixed, I will be happy to upgrade to 5 stars. Otherwise the interface is clean, pairing was seamless, and sleep tracking has been quite accurate in my experience.
App Store
Great lightweight watch and easy to use app. My only issue is that my watch is not able to upgrade to the latest firmware — I've tried multiple times and nothing happens even though it says it's connecting and reboots. Everything else works smoothly: step tracking, sleep reports, and notification mirroring all work as expected. Good value for the price of the hardware.
App Store
When it works, great. I said 'when'. Of all the non-Apple watches I have used, this one has the best Bluetooth connection — but that certainly leaves a lot of wiggle room in terms of a stable and active connection. Guessing this has more to do with Apple and Bluetooth protocols than Redmi, but as in life, it's the smaller players that suffer even if the fault is only minimally theirs. The health data itself, when it does sync, is accurate and well-presented.
Google Play
Just switched to Mi Band 9 from a basic pedometer and the Mi Fitness app blew me away. The setup was super fast — scanned the QR code on the watch and paired in under 2 minutes. Sleep tracking is shockingly accurate, it correctly identified the time I woke up at 3am last Tuesday. The variety of watch faces is unreal, I change mine every week. For the price of the band, this level of functionality is incredible value.
Google Play
Using this with my Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro and the combo is excellent. Heart rate monitoring during runs is very accurate compared to my chest strap. The Strava integration finally works after I updated both apps — workouts sync within minutes of finishing. Sleep stages and the personalized sleep report genuinely helped me identify that I was going to bed too late. Really impressed with how much data you get for free.
Google Play
Works well for daily health tracking — steps, calories, heart rate, and sleep are all reliable. I connected it to Strava which took a few tries but works consistently now. The main thing I wish for is better Google Fit direct sync (currently going through Strava as a workaround) and the ability to log weight in pounds rather than only kilograms. Good app overall, just a few features still need polish.
Google Play
The GPS tracking for my daily walks is very accurate — maps the route cleanly and the pace data matches what I expect. The watch face library is massive and adding new faces is fun. I especially appreciate the breathing exercise feature during high-stress periods. One area for improvement: the Apple Health sync (I'm using Android with Samsung Health via Health Connect) could be more seamless, but the workaround using Health Connect as a bridge does work.
Google Play
The app covers all the basics well — step tracking, sleep reports, heart rate monitoring. The UI is clean and navigation is straightforward. My main frustration is the metric unit inconsistency: I switched to km but pace still shows in imperial on some screens. Also, background sync requires some setup to work reliably on Android — I had to exempt Mi Fitness from battery optimization. Once configured properly, it works great for everyday fitness tracking.

Workout & Activity Tracking
Users can start GPS-based outdoor workouts (running, walking, cycling) directly from the Mi Fitness app on their phone, mapping the route in real time. For wearable-logged workouts, Mi Fitness syncs detailed session data including distance, pace, heart rate zones, calories burned, and training indices like VO₂ max and training load. Advanced supported devices like Xiaomi Smart Band 9/10 offer 10 guided running courses with on-watch coaching, all viewable and configurable in Mi Fitness.
Device Customization
The Wearables section of Mi Fitness gives full control over device settings: watch face selection (hundreds of built-in and downloadable faces including premium paid options), notification app management, DND settings, alarm configuration, always-on display, and firmware OTA updates. Contactless Mastercard payments and Amazon Alexa voice assistant integration are also configurable within Mi Fitness for compatible device models.
Third-Party Integration
Mi Fitness supports data sharing with:
Strava — sync GPS workouts and activity data; connect via Profile → Connected Apps (iOS) or Profile → Settings → Third Party Data (Android)
Google Fit / Google Health Connect — health and fitness data sync to Google's health platform on Android
Suunto — workout data synchronization
Apple Health — on iOS, Mi Fitness can share health data to Apple Health (note: syncs by hour, not minute-level granularity for some metrics)

Bottom line: If you own a Xiaomi Smart Band 9, Band 10, Redmi Watch 5, or any other current-generation Xiaomi/Redmi wearable, Mi Fitness is the correct and required app. Zepp Life is only relevant for users still on older Mi Bands (pre-Band 8 era) that were historically paired with the Mi Fit/Zepp Life app.
Account & Privacy
Mi Fitness uses Xiaomi Accounts as its identity system, with login options via Xiaomi account, Google, or Apple. Health data synced to Xiaomi's cloud is covered under Xiaomi's global Privacy Policy and the IoT Privacy White Paper for Xiaomi Watch and Mi Fitness.
Key privacy controls available in Mi Fitness:
Withdraw consent and delete data: Profile → About this app → Withdrawal of consent — this deletes all Mi Fitness data on Xiaomi's servers and your phone
Optional permissions requested (Android): phone, SMS, Bluetooth, calendar, physical activity, notifications, contacts, location, camera, microphone, and Health Connect — all requested only when you access the relevant feature, none are mandatory for core functions.
Who Is Mi Fitness For?
The Mi Fitness app is the right choice for:
Xiaomi and Redmi wearable users — if you own a current-generation Xiaomi Watch or Mi Band, this is your required companion app
Budget-conscious fitness trackers — Mi Fitness works with some of the best-value smartbands available, delivering comprehensive health tracking at a fraction of premium wearable costs
Users wanting Strava / Google Fit connectivity — Mi Fitness directly supports major third-party fitness platform integrations
Users transitioning from Zepp Life — Mi Fitness is the official migration path for users upgrading to newer Xiaomi devices that no longer support Zepp Life
Note: Mi Fitness is not available as a PC or Mac desktop application. It is a mobile-only app for Android (Google Play) and iOS (App Store). On iOS, it is listed as "Mi Fitness (Xiaomi Wear Lite)" but supports all the same device families as the Android version.
